All About Amelia - 6 months old!

Amelia, you're 6 months old!!

It's your half-birthday sweet girl. :)

We can't believe how fast you're growing. It seems like you're doing something new every day!

You weigh 17 lbs - 11 ounces and you're 26" long.

You're wearing size 2 diapers.

You're wearing size 6-9 month clothes. In some brands, the 6 month is already too short, so we've moved you up to the 9 month for length.

You continue to sleep 7-9 hours a night.

You still sleep in your pack-n-play beside Mommy's side of the bed.

You're eating 8 ounces every four hours.

We've also introduced you to rice cereal with peaches! Of course, you like it much better than the plain rice cereal. :)

We'll introduce a veggie next week. I'm hoping you like veggies more than your Daddy - he's not a big veggie-eater! First on the list...sweet peas!
*can you hear your Daddy gagging??*

You continue to fake cough and think it's so funny.

You've discovered your feet. They're your new favorite toy.

You seem to be tired of your swing, but love your play gym more than ever!

You also love your exersaucer that Uncle Chris & Aunt Kerri let us borrow!

You're sitting up for a few seconds without our help. We know you will be doing it all by yourself very soon!

You've started sticking your tongue out at people. Just like Mommy when she was little. She always had her tongue out in pictures. (LOL)

You smack your lips constantly and it's so cute. This is one of your Daddy's favorite things that you do. He's constantly getting you to smack your lips!

You had your first drink of water out of a straw and you LOVED it! You just kept opening your mouth for more. Your dress was soaked afterwards! :)

You are definitely teething and we feel so sorry for you. You chew on EVERYTHING.

You love to put the burp cloth over your face. You think it's so funny when we finally pull it away from your face. We think if we didn't pull it away, you would sit under there for hours! (LOL)

How you love for the burp cloth to be on your face is amazing to us, because you HATE for any type of clothing to go over your head. When we dress you, you immediately start freaking out when a shirt goes over your head. We have to be quick when dressing/undressing you.

You can roll from back to stomach and stomach to back, but don't do it every time we lay you down. Not sure when you will decide to roll every time we put you down. We're making sure not to walk away and leave you - unless you're on the floor (just to be safe). :)

You're Mommy's best little shopping buddy. If you have a full belly and a clean diaper, you'll shop til Mommy drops!

You love to hold hands. A lot of times when you're upset, all it takes is to let you hold our finger and you're happy again.

When we lean down to give you kisses, you will put your hands up and want to hold our face. We think this is just precious!

You continue to be the happiest baby we know. We can't take you anywhere without someone commenting on your beautiful eyes and sweet smile.

Amelia, we never knew that our hearts could hold so much love for someone. We love you more than words can say!

Weekend Wrap-Up...

My weekend started off with meeting one of my new blog friends.

Hillary, I stole a pic off your blog since we forgot to take any pictures! HA!

We met for lunch at Mimi's...which included a mocha latte (for me), yummy quiche & muffins and lots of talking! Those two hours passed so fast! Hillary was precious. She was so down to earth and made me laugh, which automatically puts her at the top of my faves list. I'm looking forward to the next time we can get together and visit!

Joy kept Amelia while I was at lunch, so I made my way to her house to pick up my girl. We ran a few errands and then headed home. We were so happy for this guy to arrive home from his business trip!! We missed him terribly.

Sunday afternoon, we went to Joy's and celebrated Drew & Cody's birthdays.

My sister made Cody's favorite meal (French Dip) and made these twice baked potatoes too. Yes, they tasted as good as they look! :)

We had lemon bars (Drew's fave) and apple turnovers (Cody's fave) for dessert.

Uncle Chris was able to get Amelia to sleep within a few minutes! Kandace wasn't so sure about sharing her Daddy with someone else. It was so funny...she wanted right up there with them, so she could be close to her Daddy too. (LOL)

After lunch, the boys played ball...

It was a pretty day outside, so some sat on the porch and watched the game...

And some watched from inside. :)

I have no explanation for this pic. Just Ty being his silly-self. HA!

This little girl (my 2nd cuz) was in from Oklahoma to visit her Memaw & Papa...

She is the sweetest thing. She loves Amelia and wanted to be as close to her as possible at all times. :)

It was a fun afternoon with fam and then we headed off to church!

This is a busy week. I'm preparing for my trip to Atlanta and have a list a mile long! I'll definitely be posting again this week though...a certain someone is turning 6 months old!! :)

Love to all,

Catch up...

I feel like there has been no time to sit down and blog over the past few days. It has taken me all day to write this. Amelia is in bed (for now), so I'm going to attempt to play catch up...here's a little update on what's going on in the Averitt House!

Alex arrived home from his business trip on Friday. We had a beautiful weekend! We woke up and put Amelia in bed with us. I just laid there remembering when I used to daydream about mornings like this.

Thank you Father, for Amelia Joy.

We loved on our girl and then we headed to Mimi's. It's one of our favorite places to go for breakfast/brunch. One of my favorite things to get with my breakfast is their mocha latte. They are so fattening & yummy!

Amelia took her glow worm in with her. She likes to snuggle it. :) She almost looks angry in this picture. HA! She was tired.

She used to always sleep when we went to restaurants, but here lately she wants to be held.

We usually take turns. One of us eats while one holds her and then we switch so the other can eat. (Except Sunday night when she didn't care who was holding her. She wanted to go home and go to bed, so I got my food to go and we headed home! HA!) That's the first time she has ever done that (and probably not the last). We just don't ever want her to cry and disturb everyone else in the restaurant. Much easier to just get our food to go.

Anywho, after breakfast at Mimi's, we ran a few errands and then headed home to take a walk around the neighborhood. This is the first time we've walked with Dies and Amelia. Diesel was trying to sniff Amelia the entire time.

And this was Amelia's face when he would put his face in her stroller. Just like her Aunt Joy - you'll never have to guess what she's thinking...her face says it all! LOL!! I'm fairly certain she was thinking, "get your nose out of my stroller, you stinky dog!" HA!

She really did enjoy the walk though. :)

Sunday morning we got up and I made cinnamon rolls & coffee. Alex had some things to finish up, so we got ready and headed to church. Here are a couple of pics before we left for church...

I had my airbrush tan the night before. As you can see....IT WORKED! HA! I showed the girl a pic of what I look like when I tan naturally. She decided I needed the medium color. It was shocking to go from being so fair to so dark! I think it looks darker in pics than it really is in person. I was pleased though...it gave me some color, which is what I wanted. It has already lighted up quite a bit. I think next time, I will do the lightest!

We had home group on Monday night and then Tuesday, Alex left on another business trip. :(

Tuesday evening, Amelia started running fever. This is the first time she has ever run fever or been sick, so I was a little panicked at first. I called Alex and he said, "have you called the doctor?" I was like, "oh...no, that's a great idea though!" So I called the after hours line and could barely remember my own phone number. She was so pitiful. Her temperature got up to 102.3. She was burning up from head to toe. I took her sleeper off and she slept in her diaper for the rest of the night. Well, she didn't really sleep. And neither did I. I put her in bed with me and we were up most of the night. She would just lay there and make this little moaning noise. I felt so bad for her. Her eyes were watering so bad, it looked like she was crying. She napped off and on today.

I took her to the doctor this afternoon. They took some blood to make sure everything was okay. This nice man came in to stick her finger and she didn't even cry - just laid there and stared at him. UNTIL he continued to squeeze her finger to get quite a bit of blood. She finally lost it and was crying BIG TIME. I fed her while we waited for the results and that helped calm her down.

This is her trying to get the band-aid off her finger. She kept messing with it, until it finally fell off.

She has a virus that will just have to run it's course. Her fever is already gone. (YAY!!) Now I just have a cranky girl on my hands. I'm praying she sleeps better tonight. We're both tired. I think we'll spend tomorrow in our pjs being lazy!

Alex, if you're reading this...we miss you. :)

Just us girls...

It has just been me and Amelia this week. Alex has been out of town on a business trip. We always miss him and we're ready for him to be home. I've been sending him video and pictures of Amelia every day. He misses her so much. I told him that I've been showing Amelia pics of him as well, so she wouldn't forget what her Daddy looked like. HA! When he calls, I put him on speaker phone and she immediately starts grinning from ear to ear. She knows his voice. :) It's so sweet.

Tuesday evening we had a girl's night out with my sister, Joy. It was so much fun. We met at Copeland's and had an awesome dinner. They had live music and at certain points in the evening, the entire restaurant was singing. So much fun!! We were there for over two hours, just eating and chatting. Amelia did really well...she would sit in her seat, sit in my lap, slept off and on. She's such a good baby.

Wednesday evening we went to buy groceries. My sister and her boys met up with us and we did our shopping together. My nephews are a great help with Amelia. They will push her in her stroller and let me focus on buying groceries. It always surprises me that they are willing to push her around in the stroller - they range from ages 11-17. They are so good with her and she loves to watch them...always ready to give them a smile. :) After grocery shopping, we headed home and had dinner and watched a little TV until bedtime.

Last night I hosted home group. My Mom came in for a couple of days, so she helped me prepare for that. She has also been a huge help with Amelia. She got up with her this morning and let me sleep in. Thanks, Momma!!

I made hot ham & cheese croissant sandwiches last night and I also made these...

picture from Pioneer Woman

Of course, I put a healthy salad with it. HA! They were so good. I'm never disappointed with PW's recipes.

For dessert I made an ice cream sandwich cake. The easiest dessert in the world and so yummy! You just layer ice cream sandwiches and whipped cream and freeze. When you get it out, top with your favorite candy bar. I also did a yellow cake w/berries and cream. I really didn't cook much of anything...it was all quick and easy!

Tonight my man comes home! YAY!!! We have my niece's birthday party tonight and then NOTHING tomorrow. I know Alex will need to rest and prepare for Sunday, so a free Saturday is just what we need.

I've made an appointment for my first airbrush tan. I've decided to try and tan safely this year. Once spring hits, I usually start going to the tanning bed. *I know - it's terrible for the skin, thus the reason I'm trying something new and safer* :) I'm a little nervous and I'm just praying I don't end up looking like this. If I remember - I'll take a before and after picture to show you! :)

Well, I'm going to go get a shower now...since it's 11:30 and all. We're meeting my S-I-L, Sara today! I haven't seen her in a couple of weeks and miss her terribly! So excited to see her and the kiddos.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Love to all,
