35 weeks...

A doesn't have much room to maneuver now that she's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Her kidneys are fully developed now, and her liver can process some waste products. Most of her basic physical development is now complete — she'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

I had my doctor's appointment last Wednesday. I wasn't able to see my doc (he was on vacay) but I did get to choose who I wanted to see, so I picked Dr. B. My bp was up, so he ran some blood work (all came back okay). I had to do a 24-hour urine analysis yesterday...seriously, collecting your urine is so gross. I'm sure everything will come back fine, since the blood work came back okay. They are just watching me closely since we're getting so close to my due date. I see my doctor again tomorrow. I start going every week now. CRAZY!! I feel like I'm getting a cold - woke up with a cough. My doc's office told me to go get both flu shots. I still haven't. I'm trying to find a place to get the H1N1 vaccine. Neither my OB or primary care have it.

My sister and I had a big job last week. It was a 2-day event that we were catering. My Mom came in to help us with the job and THANK GOODNESS she did. We have the best time together. We laughed A LOT...cried a little...happy tears of course. :) I seriously have the best Momma in the world. She was up at 5am every day and working until midnight helping us get things together for the next day. She's awesome and I love her to pieces. There is no way we could have done it without her. Thank you Momma...you're the best!!

I had my 3rd and final baby shower yesterday. It was at my church and it was fabulous! I will post pics this week. I received several items that I really needed and then some really cute things with A's name and monogram!

Everyone says I should have my bag packed. I've been asking people what to pack. Any suggestions on what to throw in the bag?

I will post more soon. I lost the cord to my camera, so I can't put any of my pics on the computer. That's why I didn't include a belly shot in this post. Just imagine me very large and swollen. HA! My S-I-L sent me all of her pics from the shower though, so I will post those soon.

Love,

Boys will NEVER understand how hard it is for a girl to "collect urine." I cant IMAGINE doing it pregnant!!!

GIRL--I remember 35 weeks and remember my feet!! Oh, the swelling! Praying for you and sweet little Miss A!!
I would take some snacks...and take the baby book or something they can "ink" her footprints in. I wrote some specific verses/prayers on index cards for labor and brought those.
If you think you will read, you could bring a magazine or book for the "labor"--but I was mostly too excited and distracted to read! Bring your boppy for breastfeeding and maybe a cute gown for her to wear after she is born?!?! I will e-mail you if I think of other things.

Getting close!! I just found a compilation of things to pack on babycenter.com. I'll e-mail it to you, although I have already edited it for myself so I could be missing something that you would like.

i often feel like i am reliving my pregnancy with adelaide reading about your adventures! i had to do the 24-hour urine sample. keeping a large jar of urine in our fridge was just about the sickest thing ever. running out of room in the large jar the last few hours was even more gross!
i have a word document packing list, if you want me to email it to you as a starting point or reference just let me know, i'm glad to!

Hi! I'm there right along with you:) 35w4d! I had to get bloodwork for preeclampsia today and am hoping everything's okay...
Will you post a "master" list of everything you came up with for your hospital bag?
I'm taking my breastfeeding manual and receiving blankets in case the baby's head is wobbling around in the carseat.

Hello Jill! I would recommend a couple different sizes of clothes for Baby A...because size 0-3 are huge you might try to bring a newborn outfit or too. Maybe even a premie one. My son was 8 lbs and needed a newborn size for his hospital pic. Speaking of the hosptial picture you might want to bring props for the pic such as a blanked backdrop or a stuffed animal for Baby A to hold. Also I would recommend Baby A's baby book or blank sheets of paper to have the nurses stamp her foot. I had the nurse stamp my baby's hands and feet in his book and on paper so that I could frame them for his nursery. I'm praying for you guys! Good luck! Hilary

To tell you the truth, I packed a whole bunch of stuff I didn't even use. The most important for me was a nursing tank, slippers, comfy (and big) pj pants, toothbrush and face soap. OH and make up. Don't forget makeup, because everyone will be taking your picture. I at least needed foundation, powder and lip gloss. :)
