Thanksgiving 2011...

We spent Thanksgiving with my side of the family this year. Amelia and I headed to my parents on Tuesday and Alex joined us on Wednesday evening. I wanted to be there to help Mama with food. She has been working so hard to get her house ready, they moved right before Thanksgiving, so I wanted to be there to help with whatever I could. I've been hosting Thanksgiving for the past few years, after my parents moved 3 hours away. I was so excited to have it at their house this year. I love hosting but being 5 months pregnant and having a toddler - I chose to hand the Thanksgiving & Christmas hosting back over to our Mamas this year! :) I made an apple pie, fudge pie, and almond green beans. I brought fresh cranberries and oranges intending on making cranberry sauce. My SIL, Sara, volunteered to do it for me and it was SO GOOD! It was Rachel Ray's recipe. So easy and delicious.

Here's Amelia posing. Her Aunt Sara was trying to show her how to stand and this was her interpretation of that. (LOL) She wore this sweet little outfit that I ordered from HERE. I actually ordered it for her birthday but since we didn't have a party, I just saved it for Thanksgiving!

I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked. We had a moment of defiance at the dinner table (over sitting in a highchair) and I didn't think to pick up my camera after that. I'm happy to say that we made it through the meltdown after 3 trips to the bedroom and were able to have a happy Thanksgiving with family. (LOL) Amelia enjoyed the time with her family, especially with her cousins, even though she was sick with her first (and hopefully last) UTI over the holiday. I had these as a child and as an adult and they are NO FUN. I felt so bad for her. She's much better now and I'm so thankful for that!

Our family of three.

Here's the entire gang! My favorite part of Thanksgiving is when we write down what we're thankful for and share at the end of the night. It's neat to see my nephews and nieces mature and go from being thankful for toys and food (both wonderful things) to being thankful for Jesus and eternal life (the best thing ever)! I look forward to hearing my girls share every year as they get older. It was a Happy Thanksgiving, indeed.

O Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, And a great King above all gods, In whose hand are the depths of the earth; The peaks of the mountains are His also. The sea is His, for it was He who made it; And His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. -Psalm 95:1-6

Love to all,
