I'm sick of it...

Sick of being sick that is!

Since last Friday, Amelia and I have both been sick. I took her to the doctor yesterday and she had the start of her first ear infection. She also has a nasty cold...runny nose, sneezing, coughing, sinus drainage, etc. For the first few days, I couldn't even keep a bottle down her. She would start to choke on the drainage and would throw up her entire bottle. Didn't matter if it was formula or juice...she threw it up. She refused pedialyte. Probably because it tastes SO NASTY. Up until last night, she has slept in our bed, propped up on her boppy pillow so she could breathe.

Sidenote: We're getting a king size bed. Pronto.

We've been using the nasal spray and suctioning her nose on a regular basis and it's World War III, each and every time.

Bless it. It's 2010...there has to be a better way to get snot out of a baby's nose.

I feel so bad for her. I should have taken her to the doctor on Friday. This proved to me that I do know my baby and it doesn't matter what a nurse says over the phone. Her ear was hurting and that's why she was screaming her head off constantly. She has cried more over the past few days than I've ever heard her cry in the last 9 months.

She took her first dose of antibiotic last night and actually slept in her crib all night long. I would get up and check on her every few hours, just to make sure she was breathing okay. I honestly didn't know if I could make it another night on little-to-no-sleep. It's so hard being sick while you're baby is sick.

So if you were wondering where I've been, I've been covered in throw up and snot for the past few days. (LOL)

I wish I were kidding.

I think we're finally on the mend and I will hopefully be back to blogging very soon.

Love to all,

Our little guys hates getting his nose cleaned out too but a friend told me that they have electric nasal aspirators and they work wonders apparently. I hope she's feeling better soon!

the nasal aspirator that Life With Erin talked about works wonders. I do not have one but I have several friends that say the are the best thing ever invented!! I think they sell them a Walgreens.

Hope you girls are feeling better soon.

It's so sad when they are sick...and it's especially hard for Mama to go with no sleep when she's sick too! Thank you, Lord, for antibiotics and the love of moms to make us feel better!

Deja vu, we went thru the same exact thing a couple of weeks ago! And I agree about a better way to get snot out of their noses. Krishani sees the blue syringe and she starts to squirm, lol! Hope ya'll are feeling better!

So sorry Amelia and you are so sick, I know how hard it is! We as Moms can't afford to be sick, we have too much to do!

i know how you feel, having a sick baby is the worse for us the moms! glad things are looking better now. Try not to suction her nose too often,it can get her nasal area swollen and makes it even harder for them to breath, i know it's already bad but it does get worse when we do it too much. maybe if you just try to tickle her nose to make her sneeze and hopefully this way she can get as much snot out.... well, maybe by now is not necessary anymore but it might help in the future :) i'll be thinking of you girls!

GIRL. I am so, SOOOOO sorry. I am saying a prayer for you all. We have been there and it is tough enough to be sick as a momma or have a sick baby, but for BOTH of you to be sick is downright MISERABLE. Just MISERABLE. Hope you are getting better. HUGS to you and that sweet little baby girl.

Poor baby! She looks pitiful. :( It is the worst when our babies are sick.....I feel so bad! Have you tried those battery powered nasal suction things? My friend had one and it really seemed to work. I hate the spray and bulb too.

Your daughter is ADORABLE. I'm sure you hear that a lot, but she seriously should be a Gerber baby. She is picturesque beauty! I love the hope behind your story of infertility. I have a daughter, but am experiencing secondary infertility coming on 2 years next month. God has a plan, though, and I am confident in that. I'm now following your blog. I really enjoy it! I also love how you frame your pictures. So cool!
