Our little ballerina...

My three year old baby who isn't a baby anymore went to
her first dance workshop this morning.

It's for a couple of hours each morning this week
and she has a recital on Thursday evening.

I think I was more anxious than she was this morning.
She was so excited and said,
"I'll show you everything I learned when I get home today, Mama."

She went right in and didn't know a soul.
As I watched her from the glass window,
I noticed she started biting her bottom lip.
That's what she does when she's nervous.

And my mama-heart wanted to run in and sit with her.

But I didn't.

Seeing my baby nervous and uneasy like that.
I can't even describe the way my heart felt and my stomach literally hurt.
I know this is the first of many things she has to do on her own
and there's a big part of me that doesn't like that at all.

She asked me to introduce her to her teachers so she would know someone.

Bless it.

One of the teachers sat with her until class started and
I'm sure that made her feel better.

One of the instructors was playing the guitar as they arrived.
They started the day with worship and a devotional.
I love that and I think that helped her feel at ease.

I will say, I called Alex crying when I got in the car.
You would have thought she started kindergarten or something.
It was SO HARD for me to leave her.

She has been my sidekick since day one.

I'm certain she did fine after I left.
My main fear was her being newly potty trained and
getting that leotard off and on and wiping herself!
We actually practiced doing this last night. (LOL)

She said she asked one of the teachers to wipe her
when she went #2.  I feel like I need to find that teacher
and give her a hug and some money for doing that.
Bless her heart for wiping my child's bottom.

Sydney laughed as she watched Amelia through the glass.
She had a little one-on-one time with Mama this morning.
We ran several errands before heading back to pick up Amelia.

They were dancing to "I was made to worship"
when I arrived to pick her up.

Melt my heart.

She also had a craft time and made a tambourine.
I think she was as excited about craft time as she was ballet.

I have never taken Amelia to daycare or MDO or anything like that,
so this was a first for us both.

I know this is so good for her and she said she really enjoyed it and wants
to go back tomorrow, which makes me happy!

She's napping now.  She's so tired.
Girlfriend isn't used to getting up at 7:30!

Amelia, I know just how big of a deal today was for you.

I love you so much and I'm so proud of you!

Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!
Psalm 149:3

Love to all,

I love my boys and I know that God had them picked out for me long, long ago, but I have to say that ballet is on my short list of things I would LOVE to do with a child. :) I loved dance when I was little. I hope she LOVES it and that you both grow from this experience.

I'm reading this and crying too! Oh, what a sweet girl. She looks beautiful and I know she's having the best time this week. I wish I could watch her at her recital! Please give her a big hug from all of us. <3
