Preparing for Easter...

I love Easter. I remember when I was younger, Easter was the one holiday that you had to have a new dress. Whether my Mom made it or we bought it - I always loved wearing my new dress on Easter. I remember one Easter (I wish I could find the pic!!) - I was wearing my new Easter dress and paired it with some jelly shoes and tights.

I can't remember if that was the year that I had the borderline mullet or the orphan annie perm.

Either way, I was stylin'. HA!

So I'm 33 years old and Easter is still the only holiday that I really feel like I should have a new dress. :) Our church is very casual (no matter the occasion), so this is the dress that I chose for Easter this year. I have to find the perfect shoe before Sunday. I have a closet full of size 9's and none of them fit. My foot went up to a size 10 when I was pregnant and has only gone down a half size. So for right now, I'm a 9 1/2. I'm still hoping and praying that my foot goes back to it's normal size. There are a lot of cute shoes in that closet that I want to wear!!

I have a little green jacket that I'm going to wear over it. The jacket has a white lining with blue polka dots.

I love a cute lining.

I love this dress too. It's so comfy and has pockets. Pockets rock.

Here's Amelia's Easter dress. It's actually sleeveless, so I'm putting her "Laverne & Shirley sweater" over it. Her Aunt Fecia gave her this little white sweater that has her initial in white. Very subtle and so cute. :)

And as for Alex. He will probably wear a button down, sleeves rolled up (the man always has his sleeves rolled up!) with jeans. Yes, we are that casual at our church...it's one of the things I love about it.

Come just as you are...suit, jeans, shorts...we don't care. And neither does God. :) Won't be long and it will be warm enough for him to preach in cargos & flip flops.

I'm so not kidding.

We vacation in Destin and I swear I hear God calling us to start a church on the beach. Every year this happens. One day maybe Alex will hear the same call. HA!

This is Miss Amelia's first Easter basket. I ordered it from Pottery Barn Kids. They had a small & large one. This is the small one and the perfect size. I can't imagine how big the large one would have been!

One day, she will actually be able to carry it and hunt eggs with her cousins. :) Since she can't have candy, she's getting a Peter Rabbit DVD, Veggie Tales Easter DVD (she has a Veggie Tales library and didn't have this one yet :), the books "What Little Girls Are Made Of" and "Princess Baby", a couple of Little People Easter toys, an Easter rabbit-ducky for bath time, a new pull-toy for her car seat, & a new pair of silver shoes for spring!

I purchased some of these things 2-3 years ago. I put them away for this very day - the day that I would have my own little chick on Easter. Makes me praise the Lord all over again!! One of my blog friends made the statement yesterday, that she was working on a painting for her future nursery and asked if that was crazy. I found it to be totally normal. I didn't know when God would give me a child, but I knew He would in His perfect timing. My buying things for a child that I didn't have yet - that was me believing that He would one day give me the desires of my heart. The desire to be a mother.

I'm so thankful to be a mother, but even more thankful for what Easter is really all about. God sacrificed his only son to die on the cross for my (AND YOUR) sins. As a parent, just think about that for a minute. I mean...WOW!!! What an amazing love He has for us, His children. I have to admit, I love you guys, but there is no way I could sacrifice my sweet Amelia like that. PRAISE HIS NAME, for dying on that terrible cross and PRAISE HIS NAME that He rose again on the 3rd day! An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!!!

Have a blessed Easter.

Love to all,

Happy Easter! I love her basket, and I LOVE that you purchased some of it before she came along. Last week I bought a couple of children's books for our future baby. Doesn't seem weird to me at all to be planning - after all, I know it's coming - just in God's timing :-)
