I started my One Year Chronological Bible on January 1st. I'm determined to read my Bible the entire way through this year. Alex reads through his at least once (if not twice) a year. The man reads way faster than me. I also started a book called Jesus Calling - it's a short devotional for each day. Joy bought me this for Christmas and I LOVE IT. If you don't have it - I highly recommend it. Or if you do have it - buy it for some of your friends and family. What a great gift idea!
Another thing we're doing in the new year is teaching Amelia scripture. She's at an age where she soaks everything up and remembers EVERYTHING. If she can remember the words to "Jesus Loves Me" - she can definitely memorize Bible verses. I want to make it fun for her, so I put little motions with it which helps her remember. Her Aunt Sara made her an ABC scripture book for her birthday - there's a verse for every letter in the alphabet - cutest idea. We've been working with her for five days and she has already memorized her first scripture verse! Our goal will be to make it to the letter Z by the end of the year. If you're interested in printing a set of ABC scripture cards for your little one - you can find them at www.icanteachmychild.com No better gift you can give your child than the gift of God's Word.
"So love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, and strength. Memorize his laws and tell them to your children over and over again. Talk about them all the time, whether you're at home or walking along the road or going to bed at night, or getting up in the morning." -Deuteronomy 6:5-7
Here's her first scripture verse.
Brought to you by the letter "A"
"...As for me and my house we will serve the Lord." - Joshua 24:15
"How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." -Psalm 119:9-11
Love to all,

That is sooo great! Yay for Amelia! My kids all memorized the Bible alphabet, too. But they were much older! I am with you...kids can learn so much even when they are little.
What a great idea!! I really want to do this with Drake. We have started reading out of a children's study bible every night and Drake seems to enjoy it. I'm hoping to continue it and really want to make a book for Drake now!
That is so awesome! I can hardly wait to do that with Michaela. :)
I started using Jesus Calling this week, too, as part of my quiet time! I LOVE it!!
We started teaching Brody scripture last fall when he was around Amelia's age. It's been amazing how quickly he picks up on the verse. We also tell him Bible stories and then have him re-tell the story to us. It helps them stick in his little mind better! It's fun to hear him tell us stories now!
I am definitely going to do this with David-we did it as kids too! I can still remember everything I memorized as a kid. It's amazing what little sponges kids are! I need to print that booklet you have for Amelia. I love that!
i love Jesus Calling! And when my son was little we used little index cards with stickers on them to teach him scripture. Nothing is sweeter than hearing littler mouths quote the word of God!
That's such a sweet video :) My SIL got my husband and I that same devotional, Jesus Calling. We're really enjoying reading it together so far!! He travels a lot so its a cool thing we can even do over the phone!
1yay amelia! i love her precious little self!
Thank you so much for sharing that website - I'm going to have to do that for Brayden!
love this! And I LOVE Jesus Calling... every single day the devotional is EXACTLY what I need to hear. I love how God does that.
This makes me cry! Oh, I just love that child. I pray she always has a heart that loves the Lord and His word.
My aunt-in-law gave me Jesus Calling for Christmas and I am loving it!!
I need to do scriptures with L, I remember spending many a Wednesday night at church earning merit badges for memorizing scripture. I LOVED it as I child, I pray she does as well.
