Straight broke a Momma down!

Amelia had a doctor's appointment yesterday. She now weighs 8.5 pounds and is 21 inches long!

She has been getting these little red bumps on her face. I thought it was baby acne until it's started moving down her neck. Come to find out - it's eczema. I have to start using the non-scented lotions and soap. I bought Aveeno products today. We already use Dreft to wash all of her clothes. Do any of you have a favorite product or know of something that works well for this?

She also had to get three shots. We both cried.

She isn't a baby that cries much, so to see/hear her get so upset - it straight broke this Momma down! I was literally sweating before they came into the room to give them to her - I was a nervous wreck! When I got to the car, I just lost it...couldn't stop crying. Of course at this point, Amelia is in her seat totally asleep and not remembering anything that just happened. It definitely hurt me more than it hurt her. Oh, and when she got really upset from the shots, she put her hand on her face and scratched herself really bad. It bled and bled and she cried and cried. Luckily, these scratches heal quickly and the next time she gets shots...she's wearing mittens! Alex apologized that I had to take her to get her shots and I said, "that's okay, because you're going next time!" (LOL) When I got her home and took the blanket off of her carseat - this is what I found.

Her hat had slipped down over her eyes and she was sound asleep...made me laugh out loud! Is it just me or is she the cutest thing ever!? ;)

My sweet M-I-L came yesterday and stayed the night. She watched Amelia so that we could get a full nights sleep. It was heavenly. She also made chicken and dumplings and her yummy mac&cheese for dinner! Thanks, Linda...we love you!!

Oh, and I guess you guys are wondering who won the Target gift card!!! I used Random.org to choose the winner. And the winner is....................#33 - Ginny Agee!! It made me smile to see that it was Gin who won. I actually grew up with Ginny...we were best friends through grade school. Hi Jill I love your blog and your sweet baby girl. I myself have had eczema since I was a baby. I use everything dye and scent free, including soap. I went to a great derm a yr ago and he told me to use CeraVe lotion its a controlled release misturizer and it works great. I got it at cvs you would have to check if its ok to use on little miss. Just avoid scents and dyes as much as possible wash new clothes before using them as well. Oh and I find baby oil works well also on top of the lotion to keep skin moisturized.

we go for shots on monday and my husband "has a meeting." I am not looking forward to it at all. She must have really been tired afterwards or she probably would have let you know about her poor little face being covered by her hat!! did you get her tylenol before or after the appointment??

Awe, you poor thing--both of you. I promise the next set won't be so bad. Have a bottle on stand by and pop it into her mouth as soon as shots are given. Kade has eczema also, but he has mostly outgrown it now. I noticed any type of body spray on my clothing would make him have a flare up... Glad to hear you all are doing well :)

I've been following your blog since you were pregnant with Amelia. I've also struggled with infertility, but now have a beautiful 2 year old daughter and am expecting twins :) God is good.

My daughter struggles with eczema as well. As an infant, we found that Aquaphor worked really well--we used to grease her up at night and it always looked so much better in the morning and I kept small amounts on her during the day. Since she's gotten older we had to get a prescription from our dematologist, but the Aquaphor worked great until she was 18mos. Hope this helps...Karen

That is an adorable picture in her carseat. I have no words of wisdom about shots...ouch! But you're right, she has no memory of it!

Hugs to mommy. Shots are definitely harder on us than on them at that age.
As for eczema...eucerin, cetaphil and aveeno products. I try to do all natural products because my babies (even at 9,7,5) are very sensitive to products.
If you ever want a great detergent besides dreft try EOS but as a baby dreft is awesome.
hope you have a great day catering.

Shots are so hard. My son is now 18 months and I still hate when he gets shots. Especially now when he says, "Hurt! Leg hurts!"

As for Eczema, you may want to switch detergents. As far as I know, Dreft still has fragrance in it. Try a free/clear detergent so that it doesn't have the perfume in it. That was a major irritant for my little guy!

I use Tide Free & Clear or the Kirkland(Costco) version of it for all of our clothes.

Jill- She is so, SO cute! I cry at the shots, too. It is just pitiful. It gets a little better. But only a little. :( When AK was newborn like Amelia she scratched herself like that all the time. I felt so bad...but we have so many pictures of her with a gash on her face!! Still adorable, though. I love seeing this "faith baby" and hearing about you guys! Such a blessing!

so sorry the shots were hard~it was hard at first for me too~it does get easier i think. Now Olivia gets more upset because they are holding her down than because of the shots.
As far as the products~auquaphor is great and i always like baby ALL better than DREFT. i think both have fragrance though so you might want to try something free and clear.

Love the blog look!!

Shots still make my heart hurt every time!!

Also, we used whatever was on sale - dreft or All free and clear - any of the allergy detergents.

Poor baby!! That makes me so sad! :( That picture with her had covering her eyes was very cute though. :)

The little boy I used to keep had eczema really bad and they tried everything. Finally the Dr. told them to try Cetephil and it worked!

Love her! So sweet! Love the pic with the hat over her eyes.

Believe it or not, you have more guts than me with shots. I didn't go get Kayla's shots until her 12th month. Then I was forced to. My hubby was deployed and my neighbor was out of town for almost all of the deployment, so I was on my own.

poor baby! I hate shot day! I always make my mom go with me! Ha... My Annabelle has eczema and we use the unscented Aveno products. We used Dreft for laundry for a while, but had to switch to something without ANY scent, (not even a mild one, like Dreft) so I use All Free & Clear on her clothes now, and its inexpensive and works really well... Also, when Amelia gets a little older (I think at 3 mos, but it might be 6), if she is still having eczema outbreaks, there's an oil that your dr. can prescribe her and it works miracles...its a very mild steroid with a peanut oil base, and its wonderful! It will clear AB up within a couple hours! It's called DermaSmoothe.
p.s.- love the pic of her with the hat over her eyes! Ha!

I hated the shot thing too. I hate to admit, it never gets any easier. When they get older, they know it's coming, and it is so hard. Good thing hubby is going next time. :) She is adorable!!

I have discovered that vaseline works great to heal the little scratches even faster. Just put some on morning and at night and it should go away super fast!
