Using her words...

I was telling my Mom a story about Amelia yesterday. Every time I think about it, I laugh. I always brush her teeth after she gets out of the bath every night. I let her sit on the counter and look in the mirror. She loves herself. Not sure that she knows that it's herself because she constantly waves and says Hiiii!! As if she's meeting a new friend each and every time. She's always so happy to see that little girl looking back at her in the mirror. Anyway, I was brushing her teeth and taking my sweet time - making sure to get the front & back of every tooth and then her gums. Before even finishing Amelia spits the toothbrush out of her mouth and says in an annoyed and loud voice - "STOP IT!!" As clear as day. Oh how I laughed. Alex looked at me and said, "I think she's done." The girl is using her words, let me tell ya.

She kept going to this corner in her room yesterday. She would take books with her and sit up against the wall, so I threw some pillows down for her to make herself comfy. I need to make a little reading area for her.

She wanted to wear one of my aprons last night, so I decided to pull out our matching aprons that friends gave me at one of my baby showers. This is the first time we've worn them. Hers says Amelia - mine says Mommy. She thought she was such a big girl. She sits and watches me cook dinner every night. I tell her what I'm doing while I cook - like I'm on a cooking show. She is the best audience. She gives me lots of "Num-Num-Num" and also claps for me. She has learned a lot from our watching Wheel of Fortune every night. I look forward to teaching her to bake and cook as she gets older.

And don't be afraid by the way I look in these photos. This is the way I look every day.

In the privacy of my own home.

I'm only showing you because we're such good friends.

Another new thing that my girl is doing - she has started bringing me a bow to put in her hair. I don't know why she would do this - seeing I've never put bows in the child's hair. Never. Ever. Now that she has more hair - I think she looks cute with one though. I put it in differently every time she brings it to me. She walks around with a huge smile on her face while I say, "oh Amelia, that bow looks so pretty in your hair!!" Then she pulls it out, brings it to me, and we start the process over again.

I made Chicken Piccata for dinner last night. This is PW's recipe for when she ran out of capers. Alex wouldn't eat capers anyway. The sauce is so delicious. I could just drink it.

I may have.

If you would like to try it - you can find the recipe HERE.

We had a HARD night last night. Amelia woke up at midnight and didn't go back to sleep. For real. After trying to lay with her on the couch - in the guest room - in the chair in her room - I finally brought her to our bed. I put her in the middle of us and we slept (I use this word lightly) off and on while she sat up in the middle of the bed - staring at us.

We would wake up and she would say, Hiiii!!! It was a long night. She took a much needed 3 hour nap this afternoon. Teething is hard on a little girl. And her parents. I'm praying she sleeps tonight.

I want to end this post by saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my little brother Cary!! My Mom said from the first day that she brought him home from the hospital, I thought he was MY BABY. I wanted to take care of him and would get angry when she wouldn't let me. I was two. And I know he looks older than me but that's not really his fault. Some people just age faster than others. Anyway, enough about how old he looks. I hope you have a wonderful day little brother! Wish I were there to eat some of your birthday cake. I love you!! :)

Love to all,

LOVE the aprons! I can't wait to start teaching my girls to cook!

Any play by play you can give her, the better! Soooo good for language development. Seriously, it's gold.

I hear ya on the teething. We haven't even cut a tooth yet, but there are lots of bumps that I'm afaid will all pop through at once.

She's absolutely beautiful, Jill!
